"Auf die ersten weißen Haare meiner Frau" was originally published in Literarische Flugblätter, Stuttgart, 1931. Herbert Eulenberg (1876 – 1949) was a Jewish poet, an essayist, and, in the 1920s, one of the most performed playwrights on German stages before his works were banned during the period of Nazi rule. "On My Wife's First White Hair" was translated by Zachary Bos and Nora Delaney and appears on this website with their permission.
